- Made with fresh, juicy tomatoes for the best flavor
- Cozy and comforting with a creamy finish
- Lightly spiced with cayenne and Worcestershire for a little kick
- Easy to make in one pot. I use my favorite Le Creuset Dutch Oven(linked here).
- Perfect for pairing with grilled cheese or fresh baguette

Ingredients You’ll Need
- Olive oil
- 8 large fresh tomatoes, roughly chopped
- Two tablespoons of tomato paste
- 1 yellow onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups vegetable broth (or 2 spoonfuls of Better Than Bouillon + 4 cups water)
- 1 spoon of sugar (balances the acidity)
- Splash of white wine (optional but adds depth!)
- 2 cups half & half
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Dash of cayenne pepper
- Dash Herbs de Provence
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Butter & flour to make a roux (for that creamy, thick texture)
- Fresh basil to top it off 🌿

How to Make The Best Cozy Creamy Tomato Soup
- Sauté the veggies
In a Dutch oven, heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 more minute. - Add tomatoes
Toss in the fresh tomatoes, tomato paste and sugar. Let them cook down until softened (about 10-15 minutes). Add the herbs de provence, a splash of white wine and simmer a few more minutes. - Pour in the broth
Add vegetable broth and bring everything to a boil. Lower heat and let it simmer for 40 minutes. - Blend until smooth. (Tip: You can also just mash it a bit and leave it chunky for a more rustic soup.)
Use an immersion blender (or carefully transfer to a regular blender in batches) and blend until creamy and smooth. - Make the roux
In a separate small pan, melt butter and whisk in flour to create a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes until golden, then stir it into the soup. - Cream it up!
Add half & half, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne pepper, and season with salt and pepper. Let it simmer on low for 15 more minutes to thicken and meld flavors. - Serve hot
Ladle into bowls and top with torn fresh basil. Optional: a swirl of cream or grated parmesan. Serve with crusty bread or a melty grilled cheese!

Tips for the Coziest Tomato Soup Ever
- Don’t skip the sugar, it really balances the acidity from the tomatoes.
- If tomatoes aren’t in season, you can use high quality canned San Marzano tomatoes.
- The cayenne adds a little heat, adjust to your liking.

Also love this immersion blender for blending soups right in the pot.
