Wow what a star studded event! Glitz, glamour and it’s all surrounding the iconic Baguette. One of my favorite classic handbags.
Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear Kim Jones and Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear Silvia Venturini Fendi joined forces with Marc Jacobs, Tiffany & Co, Sarah Jessica Parker and Porter to pay homage to the iconic bag and the city in which its place in pop culture history was sealed – , New York
Taking place at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom. The event was simply stunning as it was centered all around the iconic Baguette. The event had all the stars you would expect to see. Kate Moss, Gigi Hadid, Sarah Jessica Parker even was there to show her love for the Baguette. Parker’s role on Sex & the City basically jump started the Baguette’s place in fashion, allowing it to rise to the icon level it is today. The celebration of the baguette was truly spectacular and it was amazing to see all the new pieces. From hats to jackets, an exciting new beginning for the baguette. There were even Tiffany & Co diamond Baguettes, in the brands famous blue: Tiffany Blue. Freshened up for a new generation of fans to come.
The Baguette bag has become a classic – with the exception of a few years in the mid 2000s and early 2010s, when shoulder bags temporarily fell out of fashion trends . All over resale platforms and at consignment stores you could easily pick them up at a very low price. If you were lucky enough to buy a few during that time you will be gaining the benefits now; prices have dramatically spiked since 2019, thanks to Fendi’s reissues and Y2K nostalgia, with celebrities and influencers including, Zoe Kravitz and Bella Hadid, spotted wearing both new and pre-loved versions of the Baguette. Gen Z’s are fueling the fire. With that in mind, as well as my estimates that new Baguettes carry between 95 and 145 percent of their retail value on the resale market, it seems that Carrie was correct: the Baguette isn’t just any bag. It’s one very well worth investing in!
