Quick & Easy Lasagna

Quick & Easy Lasagna. Fresh basil makes this dish extra delicious.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcester sauce
  • 1 splash of red wine optional
  • 1 jar of your favorite pasta sauce
  • 15 oz can of tomato sauce
  • 32 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 block of mozzarella cheese shredded (about 2 cups)
  • 1 egg
  • A handful of fresh basil leaves chopped (plus extra for garnish)
  • No-boil/oven-ready lasagna noodles
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • dash of red pepper flakes optional
  • dash of nutmeg

Equipment

  • 1 Sauté Pan
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 spoon
  • 1 Foil

Method
 

  1. Make the Meat Sauce
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until soft.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Season with Worcester sauce and a splash of red wine, salt, pepper and minced garlic.
  4. Stir in the pasta sauce and half the can of tomato sauce. Simmer for 5–10 minutes. Add fresh basil. Remove from heat.
  5. Prepare the Cheese Layer
  6. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with 1 cup shredded mozzarella, egg a dash of nutmeg.
  7. Add a pinch of salt and mix well.
  8. Build the Quick & Easy Lasagna
  9. In a 9x13” baking dish, pour a thin layer of meat sauce to cover the bottom.
  10. Lay 3 oven-ready noodles on top.
  11. Spread half the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
  12. Spoon a layer of meat sauce.
  13. Repeat the layers: noodles, ricotta, meat sauce.
  14. Finish with a final layer of noodles and the remaining sauce. Pour the rest of the tomato sauce over the top.
  15. Sprinkle generously with the remaining cup of shredded mozzarella and fresh basil.
  16. Bake and Serve
  17. Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 5- 10 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
  18. Let sit for 10 minutes before slicing.

Pairs well with a glass of red wine!
