- Make the Meat Sauce
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until soft.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned. Season with Worcester sauce and a splash of red wine, salt, pepper and minced garlic.
- Stir in the pasta sauce and half the can of tomato sauce. Simmer for 5–10 minutes. Add fresh basil. Remove from heat.
- Prepare the Cheese Layer
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with 1 cup shredded mozzarella, egg a dash of nutmeg.
- Add a pinch of salt and mix well.
- Build the Quick & Easy Lasagna
- In a 9x13” baking dish, pour a thin layer of meat sauce to cover the bottom.
- Lay 3 oven-ready noodles on top.
- Spread half the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
- Spoon a layer of meat sauce.
- Repeat the layers: noodles, ricotta, meat sauce.
- Finish with a final layer of noodles and the remaining sauce. Pour the rest of the tomato sauce over the top.
- Sprinkle generously with the remaining cup of shredded mozzarella and fresh basil.
- Bake and Serve
- Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 5- 10 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
- Let sit for 10 minutes before slicing.
