Why I Blog and How It started.

Why I Blog and How It started. As I sit down to write this blog post, I am filled with a sense of excitement, relief and gratitude. I spent years working so many annoying jobs then ending up in the corporate world. I decided to completely quit working for others.

I have done my fair share of work. My first job at 15 was See’s Candies, then as a waitress at a small local cafe, a bartender at mansion parties in Hollywood, a cocktail waitress in Las Vegas, a mortgage officer, a telemarketer, a hostess at a french restaurant, a top eBay seller for years. Then I finally opened up my designer consignment shop for three years and ended up getting robbed!

Oh ya, and I was married to a “millionaire” and then I filed for divorce. Left with absolutely nothing. Not even the home we bought together. (long story for another post). It’s easy to say I felt tired and defeated.

I ended up starting my very own skincare line and then eventually this lifestyle blog. This decision was not made lightly and was years in the making. I am thrilled to share with you why I made this choice. And hopefully inspire you to do whatever you love too! Wouldn’t it be great if you could start enjoying your life on your own terms too?

I’m an Entrepreneur at Heart

To begin with, let me tell you a little bit more about myself. I have always been an independent thinker and a creative person. Like many people, I found myself working in a corporate job. That didn’t allow me to fully express my creativity or live my life on my own terms. I felt trapped, and I knew that something had to change. I also really despised being at a job when “they” wanted me to be there. I just simply hate being scheduled. Especially when I was sick from covid and they wanted me to work anyways.

One of the main reasons why I started a lifestyle blog is that I couldn’t stand working a corporate job and making someone else rich. I have always been a hard worker and a dedicated employee. But I never felt like my efforts were truly appreciated or valued. I was just another robot in their machine. Working long hours and sacrificing my personal life for the sake of someone else’s bottom line.

Something Of My Own

The idea of being able to create something that was mine. That I could build from the ground up and call my own. That was incredibly appealing to me. I wanted to be able to take pride in my work. And to have the freedom to make my own decisions. I wanted to be able to pursue my passions and to share my ideas with the world in a way that felt authentic and meaningful.

Blog On My Own Schedule

Another major benefit of starting a lifestyle blog is that it allows me to have my own schedule. One of the biggest drawbacks of working in a corporate job is the lack of flexibility. I was always on someone else’s timetable, with little control over my own time. This made it difficult to plan my life around work, and I often found myself missing out on important events, like my sons birthday or New Year’s Eve. I was over stressed and overwhelmed, ending up with high blood pressure too!

I Take A Break Whenever I Want To

Now that I am running my own blog, I have the freedom to set my own schedule and to prioritize my time in a way that works best for me. I can take breaks when I need to! Work during my most productive hours, and plan my days around the things that matter most to me. This has made a huge difference in my overall quality of life. I feel much happier and more fulfilled as a result.

Time With My Son

Perhaps the greatest benefit of starting a lifestyle blog, however, is the time that I get to spend with my son. As a working parent, it can be incredibly challenging to balance the demands of a career with the responsibilities of raising a child. I often felt guilty for not being there enough. Missing important moments. And for not being able to give my son the attention and support that he deserved.

Now that I am working for myself, I have the ability to be there for my son in a way that I never could before. I can take him to school, pick him up in the afternoons, and be there for him whenever he needs me. We can spend time together doing the things that we love. I can be a more present and engaged parent as a result. This has been incredibly rewarding, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to prioritize my family in this way.

Enjoying Life

Starting a lifestyle blog has allowed me to relax and enjoy my life in a way that I never thought possible. When I was working in the corporate world, I was constantly stressed and anxious. My panic attacks started up. I felt like I was always on the go, always trying to keep up with the demands of my job. I didn’t have much time for myself, and I often felt like I was just going through the motions.

Now, I am able to slow down and savor the moments. I can take time for myself! Whether that means shopping, going for a walk, or just enjoying a cup of tea. Sometimes a needed glass of wine!
