1. Decadent Chocolate Lava Cake

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease your heart baking dish generously with butter.
  2. Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler or microwave, stirring until smooth.
  3. Whisk in the powdered sugar, followed by the egg and egg yolk. Stir in the flour and salt until just combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the dish and bake for 12-14 minutes until the edges are firm but the center is gooey.
  5. Serve warm with a dusting of powdered sugar or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

2. Classic Berry Cobbler

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease your heart baking dish.
  2. Toss the berries with granulated sugar and lemon juice, then spread them evenly in the dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, milk, melted butter, and baking powder until smooth. Pour the batter over the berries.
  4. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden and bubbling.
  5. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a drizzle of honey.

3. Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 vanilla bean (or 1 tsp vanilla extract)
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 2 tbsp turbinado sugar (for topping)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Place your heart baking dish inside a larger pan and set aside.
  2. Heat the cream and vanilla bean (split and scraped) over medium heat until just steaming. Remove from heat and let steep.
  3. In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar until pale. Slowly pour in the warm cream, whisking constantly.
  4. Strain the mixture into the heart dish and fill the larger pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the dish.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes until just set. Cool, then refrigerate for 2 hours.
  6. Sprinkle turbinado sugar on top and torch until caramelized. Serve immediately.
